About Mary Anne

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my doula page. I am a Mom, photographer, and now a Mae-Mae (my grandmother name.)

I experienced the amazing benefits of doula work first hand when I gave birth to my Katie over 30 years ago. We had an amazing doula who came in as a gift from God to help us although we had not planned for it. She had taught our childbirth class but my husband and I thought we were good to go on our own with the birth. About halfway into a very difficult time, we called her from the hospital. “I’m on my way!” she responded and we both sighed with deep relief. In she came, carrying all the confidence and comfort that we needed and our Katie was born about an hour later. I will never forget it. She had made all the difference for us.

When we gave birth to our Annie we were again attended by a wonderful doula. Her birth was so peaceful and beautiful. Then, I thought I could manage it on my own again with my son Johnny and did not have a doula with me. We gave birth at a very traditional hospital and it was not at all what we wanted. I knew then that doulas make all the difference. Having that person designated to my care and support took so much pressure off me.

Later when I was working as a birth photographer, I saw the blessing of doula work in action again. I had raised my own family and finally had time to designate to this beautiful work. I received my certification in 2020 and have attended many births, both as a birth photographer and labor doula and doula-in-training. There is nothing like the joy I receive in serving families as they experience the deepest blessings of their lives.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to meet you very soon to chat about your upcoming birth experience!
